Job Requirements
- Physical stamina and strength to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing 70 pounds regularly
- Ability to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs
- Ability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently for extended periods
- Capable of working in cramped or high places
- Alertness to moving vehicles or aircraft and proficiency in using radio communication with crew and airport authorities
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in noisy environments
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States or Canada as applicable
- Complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- Able to secure a Customs Seal if required by customer or role access
- Preferred to have one or more years of relevant experience
Job Duties
- Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate
- Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader, or baggage carts in a safe manner
- Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction
- Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies
- Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of any danger
- Operate and/or drive motorized equipment such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag cart, lavatory cart, and deicers or manually push and pull push carts and containers
- Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required
- Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital property of passengers, and prepare records in connection with these responsibilities
- Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into company information systems as required
- Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure safe and responsible operations
- Complete all required training including ramp and SIDA training
- Be willing to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
