Joby Aviation, established in 2009, stands at the forefront of the urban air mobility revolution with its pioneering development of piloted air taxis capable of vertical takeoff and quiet, efficient flight over congested city streets. As a technology-driven aerospace company, Joby is dedicated to transforming the way people move within and between urban centers, with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and innovation. The team at Joby has continually designed, developed, and tested multiple generations of prototype electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, signaling their commitment to refining this groundbreaking mode of transport. As the company progresses toward certifying its advanced aircraft, scaling up manufacturing operations, and launching its initial commercial service, it seeks to bring on board talented and committed professionals who share the vision of revolutionizing transportation through electric air taxis.
The role of Quality Inspector, Composites (2nd Shift) at Joby Aviation presents a unique and impactful opportunity to contribute directly to the manufacturing and quality assurance efforts critical for producing high-performing VTOL electric aircraft. This position involves rigorous incoming, in-process, and final inspections of composite materials and components, which are essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of aircraft structures. The Quality Inspector will be part of a dynamic and highly skilled quality assurance team operating in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and a strong understanding of composite materials and inspection techniques are paramount. The incumbent will help establish and evolve quality inspection systems, performing thorough inspections and audits to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards. Additionally, this role includes an important responsibility for analyzing inspection results, detecting nonconformances, and initiating corrective measures to maintain the highest manufacturing quality.
At Joby, compensation for this position is competitive, combining a base pay ranging between $20 and $29 per hour with the added benefit of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding its employees’ contributions democratically through equity participation. Joby also provides a comprehensive benefits package featuring paid time off, healthcare coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, employee stock purchase options, and various insurance coverages, ensuring both professional and personal well-being.
Given its innovative environment and the groundbreaking nature of its technology, who join Joby’s team as a Quality Inspector will be working alongside some of the brightest minds in aviation and manufacturing. The work supports a mission that blends cutting-edge aerospace engineering with sustainable urban development, promising a future where urban travel is not only faster but also cleaner and more accessible. This role invites candidates who are passionate about aerospace, quality assurance, and composite materials to engage with a company that is set to redefine the future of urban transportation while fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture. As part of a second-shift team, the Quality Inspector will play a crucial role in maintaining continuous quality operations, making this position indispensable to the company’s rapid and sustainable growth trajectory.
