The role available at Joby Aviation is for a Quality Inspector specializing in composites, particularly within the 2nd shift. This position is a critical component of the company’s quality assurance team, tasked with ensuring the highest standards in the production of composite materials and parts for VTOL electric aircraft. The Quality Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections at various stages including incoming material checks, in-process evaluations during composite layup, and final quality verifications of completed parts. Additionally, this role involves scrutinizing completed work order paperwork packages to ensure compliance and accuracy. The quality inspection activities performed will play a foundational role in benchmarking the company’s hardware design and development efforts and will help pave the path toward the production of aircraft ready for certification and commercial deployment. The position demands familiarity with quality terms, measurement techniques, and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and surface plates, alongside an ability to interpret blueprints and documentation identifying critical product characteristics. An ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, knowledgeable about mechanical and composite inspection practices, and comfortable working collaboratively in a team-focused setting.
