The Quality Control Technician at Shasta Beverages, Inc. is a key role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's quality programs and functions. This full-time position involves maintaining critical food safety and quality documentation such as HACCP records, conducting plant audits, managing mock recall programs, and providing essential training to plant personnel on quality and safety procedures. The Quality Control Technician plays a vital role in testing and validating the microbiological quality of ingredients, suppliers, packaging, and finished products to ensure the highest levels of product safety and quality. This position requires close collaboration with the Research and Development (R&D) team during new product launches, providing data and insights to support product development and innovation.

In this role, the technician will be responsible for evaluating both raw materials and finished beverage products, ensuring that they meet stringent internal and external quality standards. Responsibilities include overseeing cleaning and sanitation protocols within the plant, conducting batch report documentation, and troubleshooting production issues to ensure consistent product quality. The technician must be proficient in performing a variety of tests and evaluations, analyzing process quality trends, and recommending improvements to enhance production efficiency and maintain compliance with federal and state legislation.

This position demands a combination of strong technical knowledge and practical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Word, as well as the ability to handle complex quality data and documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in the carbonated soft drink industry, a solid understanding of quality control systems, and the ability to work effectively within a team setting. Physical demands of the job include walking, standing for extended periods, manual handling up to 50 pounds, and working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment where the ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

The work environment can vary and often includes exposure to moderate to high noise levels typical in manufacturing and warehouse settings. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 2-3 years hands-on work experience in carbonated soft drink industry preferred
  • Experience in quality control testing and sanitation of beverage equipment
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft business applications
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with OSHA required training
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Favorable background and drug exam
  • Ability to work flexible full-time schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Must have own transportation to various locations

Job Duties

  • Maintain HACCP, food safety records, and plant audits

  • Document batch reports, calculate batch variations, and ensure compliance with formulas
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot batch processes and take corrective action
  • Implement internal pest control program and maintain documentation
  • Assist supervisors in resolving quality control issues and tracking quality trends
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state legislation
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize process quality information
  • Use Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation
