The Restaurant General Manager plays a vital leadership role within TravelCenters of America. This position is responsible for managing the operations and marketing functions of the quick service restaurant located in each travel center. The General Manager oversees staffing, training, and development of the team to ensure excellent customer service and continuous improvement in restaurant profitability. This individual leads by example to inspire the team in meeting and exceeding company performance standards, fostering an upbeat atmosphere with fast and friendly customer service and good product knowledge. The role involves developing a trusting and communicative environment where staff feel comfortable giving feedback and are coached effectively according to company policies. Responsibilities also extend to recruitment and retention of high quality team members, handling payroll and accounting tasks, inventory control, personnel documentation, compliance with federal and state laws, and adherence to safety and operational standards.

The Restaurant General Manager ensures that each guest receives great tasting and quality food in a clean and welcoming environment. A crucial part of the role is to meet and achieve the financial objectives by effectively managing people, product, service, and facility processes. The manager must stay informed about competitive practices in the market and provide insights and recommendations to leadership for business growth. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • at least 3 years of supervisory experience in fast-food industry
  • strong leadership and motivational skills
  • excellent communication abilities
  • proficient in Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of POS systems
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop and perform other physical tasks
  • commitment to safety and compliance with laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • associate's or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in the fast-food industry preferred
  • proficient planning and analytical skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to lead, motivate, train and develop a team
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • operational understanding of POS software
  • valid driver’s license
