The club boasts two 18-hole golf courses designed by the renowned Pete Dye, providing a challenging and beautiful golfing experience. With over 1500 member families and a multi-year waitlist for golf memberships, DMGCC is highly sought after by golf enthusiasts and families alike. Beyond golf, the club offers a variety of amenities, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool and aquatic center, as well as an active racquets program featuring tennis and pickleball courts. The club has also hosted notable golf events such as the 1999 U.S. Senior Open and the 2017 Solheim Cup, further cementing its status as a premier golf destination.

The Purchasing Manager role at Des Moines Golf & Country Club is a key position responsible for the overall management and organization of the club’s food, beverage, and supply inventory. The Purchasing Manager plays a crucial role in controlling food costs and inventory through accurate tracking, timely ordering, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors to secure the best pricing possible for the club. The role also includes overseeing the cleanliness and sanitation of storerooms and receiving areas, along with ensuring proper rotation of stock in accordance with FIFO guidelines. This position frequently collaborates with club personnel, including the culinary team, to support club operations efficiently.

Working at DMGCC requires adaptability, as the role demands the ability to work in different temperature environments, manage physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, and operate a golf cart to transfer products between club areas. The position generally starts early in the morning but requires flexibility for later shifts and weekend availability. The club values strong organizational skills, effective communication, a positive and team-oriented attitude, and a strong commitment to upholding the club's core values.

The compensation for the Purchasing Manager is competitive, ranging from $27 to $30 per hour. Additionally, the club offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance with 85% of premiums covered by the club, dental and vision insurance, 401K with employer matching, life insurance paid fully by the club, disability coverage, paid employee meals, free golf on Mondays, scholarships and professional development opportunities, paid holidays, and accrued paid time off.
