This role is a Commercial Tractor Trailer Driver position at ELS, tasked with operating tractor trailers that haul loads exceeding three tons. The primary responsibility of the driver is to deliver various ELS materials to client sites while complying with all federal Department of Transportation standards and company protocols. The driver must maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and keep current with required medical certifications and regulations. Beyond merely driving, the role includes operating loader and forklift equipment to facilitate loading and unloading of materials, maintaining driver logs, conducting safety inspections, and reporting any damages or issues related to equipment or cargo. The candidate will be expected to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers, ensuring deliveries are accurate and timely without damage. This role requires a professional who can work independently under varied conditions, meet travel demands of over 80%, and uphold all safety and environmental standards set forth by ELS. Job Requirements
- Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the company’s TRIR goals
- Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company’s environmental performance goals
- Complete and actively participate in all safety training requirements
- Maintain a clean driving record in accordance with company insurance policy
- Follow all requirements of FMCSA
- Must be able to sit for extended periods, sometimes up to 4 hours
- Must be able to maneuver in pump shops, warehouses, and well sites
- Safely mount and dismount from trucks and perform bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and gripping
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds
- Have manual dexterity to operate hand and mechanical tools
- Possess specific vision abilities including close, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Work at a fast pace and manage multiple priorities and interruptions
- Be fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Respond to visual and aural cues
- Safely operate a tractor trailer
- Be able to drive a one-ton pickup truck
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- One to three months of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence as required
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Satisfactory driving record
- Knowledgeable in maintaining and completing driver logs according to ICC regulations
- Ability to safely operate a tractor trailer
- Ability to operate loader and forklift equipment as needed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers
- Understand and comply with federal transportation regulations
Job Duties
- Maintain current CDL (valid Certified Driver's License) and ICC medical certification card
- Maintain clean driving history (Motor Vehicle Report)
- Maintain radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched
- Ensure protection of company property and assets inside the vehicle at all times
- Maintain driver log according to ICC regulations and keep up to date with all current laws
- Conduct necessary cleaning and inspection of vehicle and trailer
- Report and record damage to vehicles, product, or equipment
- Operate loader equipment for loading and unloading ELS materials
- Drive truck to deliver ELS materials to customer locations meeting company standards for safety, timeliness, and accuracy
- Create proper labor and time reports
- Comply with all applicable U.S. Department of Transportation standards for commercial driving
- Communicate knowledgeably with co-workers and customers before, during, and after delivery
- Collect proper signatures after deliveries
- Assist with operating a forklift as needed
- Comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies
- Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations
- Perform other duties as required
