Lochmueller Group is a well-established regional engineering and environmental consulting firm that focuses on infrastructure development and planning. With a legacy spanning over 40 years, the company has continuously contributed to community improvement through innovative and actionable design and planning solutions. The firm offers diverse multidisciplinary services to public agencies and private entities, including transportation design, water resources design, environmental analysis and permitting, construction engineering and inspection, traffic engineering and transportation planning, surveying, and land acquisition and appraisal. Recognized as one of Indiana's Best Places to Work and the 2026 Indiana ESOP of the Year, Lochmueller Group prides itself on a strong workplace culture rooted in shared values epitomized by the acronym CARDIA, which stands for Creativity, Accountability, Respect, Dedication, Integrity, and Achievement. As a 100% employee-owned company, Lochmueller Group fosters a collaborative and supportive environment where employees are deeply invested in the company’s success and their own professional growth. This makes the firm an ideal place for those looking to build meaningful careers while making positive impacts on communities.
The Public Involvement Specialist role at Lochmueller Group is designed for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who thrives in supporting public outreach and involvement initiatives. This position is responsible for enhancing the execution of outreach projects through high-quality graphic design, meticulous coordination, and comprehensive project support. The specialist will develop and format public-facing communication materials such as presentations, fact sheets, handouts, and other visual aids that maintain a polished, professional, and brand-consistent appearance. A strong foundation in graphic design, including proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint, is essential for producing visually appealing and effective outreach content. Task management and follow-through skills are critical, as this role requires juggling multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards for quality control and organization.
In addition to graphic design duties, the specialist will coordinate logistics for various public involvement events, ranging from stakeholder sessions to ribbon-cuttings, ensuring that every aspect — from scheduling to vendor management and on-site support — runs smoothly. The candidate will collaborate with marketing teams, technical staff, and external partners to maximize the impact of public outreach efforts and support the successful implementation of infrastructure and environmental projects. This position calls for a proactive individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of translating complex technical information into clear and user-friendly communication materials. Familiarity with public agency processes, especially in transportation or environmental sectors, is considered a plus. Moreover, candidates should possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel periodically to support outreach activities.
Overall, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced public outreach and communications professional to join a dynamic firm committed to quality, innovation, and community development. Lochmueller Group’s employee-owned culture and recognition as an outstanding workplace further enhance the professional experience offered to the successful candidate. This position supports career growth and development within an organization that values its people and their contributions to shaping a better future for communities through infrastructure and environmental excellence.
