The opportunity available is for the position of Public Area Attendant. This role is crucial within the housekeeping department, tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all public spaces within the hotel in line with established guest service and sustainability standards. The Public Area Attendant ensures that all hard and textile surfaces, restrooms, elevators, and furniture in public areas are clean and well-organized, creating a welcoming environment for guests. Key responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining internal windows and doorways free of fingerprints and smudges, floors free of debris, and carpets spot-cleaned as necessary. Additionally, the attendant is responsible for emptying waste receptacles in public areas and cleaning employee break rooms and restrooms.
Safety and sustainability are important elements of this role. Public Area Attendants must use cleaning chemicals according to directions and understand Material Safety Data Sheets to ensure proper handling. They must follow sustainable practices aligned with HHM’s EarthView program, demonstrating the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The role also includes adhering to OSHA standards and practicing safety by wearing protective equipment and following procedures related to blood borne pathogens.
The position offers a pathway for growth within the housekeeping department, beginning with roles such as Room Inspector, advancing to Housekeeping Supervisor, and eventually reaching Executive Housekeeper.
