Spreckels Performing Arts Center is a renowned cultural hub located in Redwood City, California, dedicated to presenting outstanding theatrical productions and fostering a vibrant performing arts community. We are currently seeking two dedicated Stage Managers to join our team. This is a vital role that acts as the logistical anchor of our productions, supporting directors, cast, crew, and technical staff to ensure a seamless theatrical experience from the first rehearsal through each performance. The Stage Manager serves as the right hand of the director during rehearsals, and once the show opens, takes on full responsibility for the smooth operation of each performance. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidates will be adept at coordinating multiple aspects of the production, maintaining safety standards, and managing talent and technical elements with a calm and professional demeanor.

They manage rehearsal schedules, track script changes, maintain prompt books, call cues during performances, and ensure all technical systems function correctly. Job Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years old
- possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
- willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- ability to work long hours and nontraditional shifts
- ability to remain standing, walking, and moving for extended periods
- capability to lift, push, and drag equipment up to 50 pounds
- ability to work cooperatively with diverse personalities and teams
- adherence to California State Law regarding smoking restrictions
- strong multitasking skills
- ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
- ability to read English out loud quickly and accurately
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in theater preferred
- equivalent work experience accepted
- minimum of three years primary stage management experience
- thorough understanding of theater production
- knowledge of technical aspects of production including sound and lighting equipment
- understanding and application of production safety procedures
- proficiency with booth equipment such as sound boards, light boards, and microphones
- experience with QLab sound, video, and lighting operating systems
- ability to call a show
- strong organizational and communication skills
- leadership and multitasking abilities
- clear verbal and written communication
- time management skills
Job Duties
- Attends all rehearsals
- studies the play and demonstrates knowledge of script and stage directions
- conducts safety checks before and after rehearsals and performances
- manages rehearsal and performance schedules and communicates changes
- distributes scripts, contact lists, and related materials
- maintains a log of daily rehearsal activity, script changes, and performances
- assembles and maintains the prompt book including cue sheets, plots, and daily records
- participates in production meetings and distributes notes
- records director's notes and writes blocking
- calls and manages breaks
- maintains sign-in sheets for actors
- sets up stage and props prior to rehearsals
- tracks props and costumes and reports missing or damaged items
- provides line prompts to actors
- conducts pre-rehearsal and pre-performance fight calls when relevant
- addresses technical difficulties during rehearsals
- runs and calls show cues during performances
- operates computerized cue systems such as light and sound boards
- maintains the artistic intentions of the Director and Producer after opening
- ensures all stage and room electronics are operational before and after performances
- performs post-performance walkthroughs checking security and lighting
- writes and distributes show reports
- troubleshoots problems during performances with calm efficiency
