Job Description

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, known as Nagaajiwanaang or 'Where the water stops,' is a sovereign Ojibwe nation and one of the six Bands of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. It is a prominent tribal organization dedicated to the welfare and advancement of its members and the local community. The Band operates various service and enterprise sectors including gaming facilities, tribal government services, health care, and educational programs aiming to promote their language, culture, and natural resource preservation.

Within the Fond du Luth Bar division, located onsite at Fond du Luth, this full-time and part-time opportunity invites applicants to join a dynamic team that continually strives for operational excellence and superior customer service. Reporting directly to the Bar Shift Leader, the position involves working under a Class C Gaming Licensure with a starting pay range from $10.59 to $11.11 per hour plus tips. The role requires a high level of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism while interacting with diverse patrons in a welcoming casino bar environment.

The position emphasizes compliance with tribal regulations and promotes a culture of attentiveness and service. Employees are expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards, manage cash transactions accurately, and provide timely beverage service reflecting the values and standards of the Fond du Lac Band community. Additionally, this role includes responsibilities involving flexibility to undertake various duties assigned by management and contributing positively to the overall casino atmosphere and guest experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and able to work within the requirements of Minnesota Chippewa Tribal Liquor Ordinance and complete required alcohol awareness training provided by the Band. Job Requirements

  • No driver’s license required

  • Ability to relate well with the public
  • Must meet the requirements of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribal Liquor Ordinance
  • Alcohol awareness training is required and will be provided
  • Knowledge of personal cleanliness standards and ability to conform to good hygienic practices
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Operations are conducted seven days a week and on holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks

Job Duties

  • Provides service to the Casino customer as a sales and delivery person for any beverage or item provided by the Bar
  • Maintains an efficient and clean workplace as required
  • Complies with all sanitary regulations of the Department of Health
  • Responsible for all cash advances and accountable for all cash sales
  • Completes all necessary documentation for cash advance and sales accountability
  • May assume the duties of the bartender while the bartender is on break
  • Maintains proper attendance and reports to work on time
  • Stock wait area properly
  • Wears department uniform during scheduled work hours
  • Attends all mandatory department trainings
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial and employee records
  • Displays professionalism in responding to requests and complaints
  • Demonstrates courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to needs of others
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band in a positive and professional manner
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by management
