The current opportunity available is located at 9375 Cherry Valley Ave SE in Caledonia, Michigan, and focuses on a vital role within the Bakery department. This position entails working independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock bakery products to contribute to the financial success of the store. The responsibilities also include maintaining company guidelines for guest experience and complying with all safety and food safety standards.

This role is perfect for individuals eager to join a dynamic retail grocery environment and bring their attention to detail and passion for quality food preparation to the forefront. Preparing and producing bakery items according to the production planner is central to this position, alongside packaging and labeling these items per the program plan, merchandising bakery products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations, and ensuring the backroom is properly stocked with fresh products while rotating and dating cases and buckets. Communication with the bakery manager regarding product and supply needs is also essential, reinforcing the collaborative nature of the role.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to adhere to recipes and measure ingredients correctly. Additionally, the role demands effective communication of tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to fellow associates to ensure smooth operational flow and a safe, clean working environment. Strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines, food safety protocols, cleaning standards, and guest experience guidelines is mandatory.

Though primarily focused on bakery responsibilities, there may be occasional assignments involving other store departments based on customer experience needs, highlighting the flexible and team-oriented culture fostered at SpartanNash. Physically, this position requires the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Associates must be prepared to stand and walk for extended periods and engage in bending, stooping, twisting, and turning throughout their shift. The work environment includes a typical retail store setting with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise levels are generally low to moderate, and travel requirements may vary by assignment.
