Job Description
POAH Communities is a mission-driven organization dedicated to managing over 13,000 affordable housing apartments across the United States. As part of the Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc. family, POAH Communities plays a crucial role in ensuring that low-income individuals and families have access to quality, affordable housing options. With a team of more than 500 professionals, the organization is deeply committed to more than just property management; it fosters communities where residents feel safe, comfortable, and empowered to thrive. POAH Communities believes that excellent housing is foundational to resident success and community vitality, addressing the broader social impacts of housing accessibility and quality.
The Property Manager role at POAH Communities offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact property team while delivering an exceptional living experience to residents. This role involves overseeing a high-rise building known as 8330 On the River, located beautifully on the banks of the Detroit River facing Belle Isle. The property consists of 280 affordable apartments specifically tailored to low-income elderly residents. The building's history is significant; it was part of a portfolio of six properties nearing expiration of their Section 236 rent restrictions. POAH Communities, working in partnership with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), secured the property in 2003 to maintain affordable housing options in the area.
As Property Manager, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic team dedicated to operational excellence and financial performance while fostering inclusive, supportive environments for residents. This includes overseeing maintenance, marketing, and leasing functions to ensure the property remains desirable and well-maintained. Your leadership will be essential in managing budgets, financial planning, and ensuring full compliance with federal and local affordable housing regulations.
In this role, your impact extends beyond daily operations; you drive innovation by creating solutions to complex challenges that affect community living. Building strong relationships with residents and staff members underscores your work, enhancing community trust and satisfaction. The position requires a careful balance of financial acumen, regulatory knowledge, and compassionate leadership to promote stability and growth.
The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports not only your professional life but also your personal well-being. POAH Communities prioritizes employee health and wellness, financial stability, time-off benefits, paid leave, incentives, and professional development opportunities. Competitive salary packages reflect your experience, and the organization provides a supportive environment where diversity and equal opportunity employment are celebrated.
Joining POAH Communities as a Property Manager means stepping into a role where your leadership contributes directly to providing homes that change lives. You will have the satisfaction of knowing your work supports low-income elderly residents, helping maintain affordable housing in an area rich with community history and potential. This role is ideal for seasoned professionals with a passion for affordable housing, strong managerial skills, and a desire to lead cohesive, high-performing teams.
