Job Requirements
- education equivalent to a four-year college degree in public relations, communications, business, hospitality management or related field
- one to three years of experience in event management and marketing including planning and managing special events
- proficiency with word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, and presentation software
- knowledge of payment processing software
- valid vehicle operator's license with eligibility under MSU's driver certification policy
- ability to work scheduled hours including some evenings and weekends
- strong communication skills
- ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Job Qualifications
- knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree in public relations, communications, business, hospitality management or related area
- one to three years of related and progressively more responsible experience in event management, marketing or related fields
- experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing or presentation software
- valid vehicle operator's license with eligibility to drive university vehicles
- excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- convention industry council certification such as certified meeting professional designation is preferred
- design skills in publisher, canva or similar software is desirable
Job Duties
- provide facility coordination and on-site management
- provide sales tours with prospective clients
- secure and process payments
- prepare, issue and update contracts and publications
- communicate with clients and vendors throughout the planning process
- develop event layouts with clients
- manage existing and new revenue-generating garden-hosted events including logistics, agendas and layouts
- arrange for speakers and make travel arrangements
- provide communication and marketing support
- assist with solicitation of sponsors, vendors and in-kind donations
- prepare and assess budgets and evaluations
- reconcile and prepare revenue and expense reports
- design and develop promotional materials including website and social media updates
- manage student and temporary employees
- manage membership and commemorative brick programs
