Job Description

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a pioneering leader in advancing New York's energy transition, dedicated to promoting sustainable energy solutions that protect the environment while fostering economic growth. With over 50 years of experience, NYSERDA has established itself as a credible, objective, and trusted partner in the state's energy planning and development efforts. The authority plays a critical role in helping New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, lower energy costs, and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. NYSERDA collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, businesses, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, and entrepreneurs, to develop innovative technologies and strategies that attract private sector investment, overcome barriers to large-scale clean energy deployment, and ensure equitable benefits for all communities in New York.

NYSERDA's Bulk Energy Storage (BES) Program is at the forefront of this mission, leading the charge in deploying clean, safe, affordable, and reliable utility-scale energy storage across the state. The program is tasked with procuring 3,000 megawatts of bulk energy storage to support New York's aggressive target of deploying 6,000 megawatts of energy storage by 2030. By utilizing an innovative Index Storage Credit incentive, the program has garnered significant interest, especially in its 2025 solicitation. As the program enters a critical phase, NYSERDA is seeking talented and motivated professionals to join the BES team as Project Manager II or Senior Project Manager.

In this role, the selected candidate will provide essential program support by managing bulk energy storage contracts, supporting procurement development, and guiding the program's evolution in areas such as reporting and settlements. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that projects move smoothly from award through completion and into operation. Serving as the primary point of contact for bulk energy storage projects, the Project Manager II/Senior Project Manager will coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders, including developers, regulators, utilities, system operators, and investors. This position requires excellent project management skills, energy industry knowledge, and the ability to lead within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The role offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to New York's clean energy future by supporting the deployment of transformative energy storage solutions that enhance grid reliability and sustainability. Candidates interested in joining a forward-thinking organization committed to environmental stewardship and technological innovation will find this position rewarding. Competitive salaries are offered corresponding to experience and qualifications, with Project Manager II roles ranging from $93,659 to $131,298 and Senior Project Manager roles ranging from $115,283 to $145,682. This role may require up to 20% travel to effectively engage with project sites and stakeholders. Candidates are requested to submit separate cover letter and resume files as part of the application process.
