Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is a leading global defense contractor specializing in high-technology solutions, products, and services that empower customers to execute missions across all domains of operation. With a talented and diverse workforce of over 12,000 professionals worldwide, GDMS is committed to innovation, trust, and transparency, making it a highly respected company in the defense and scientific sectors. The company fosters a flexible and inclusive work environment where contributions are valued and rewarded, offering competitive benefits to maintain a motivated and purpose-driven workforce.

The current opening is for a Program Manager position within GDMS's Airborne Line of Business, a role pivotal to strengthening the organization's operational performance and profitability. The Program Manager will be responsible for leading a program or program segment that encompasses all phases of airborne electronic solutions—concept, proposal, design, development, integration, production, and support—for various Department of Defense platforms. These solutions include ruggedized open architecture mission and display processors, scalable stores management systems, multi-level security, and sensor processing systems.

As a valued part of the leadership team, this role demands oversight of profit and loss, managing financial operating goals effectively while aligning internal and external stakeholders with the project objectives. The Program Manager will collaborate closely with the Business Segment Director and work in a matrixed organization that leverages resources across GDMS to maximize project outcomes. Effective leadership will involve monitoring project performance against baselines, driving technical solution implementation, supporting change proposals, and facilitating new business development.

Customer satisfaction is paramount in this role, requiring the candidate to develop strong and collaborative relationships with clients while handling high-pressure, dynamic environments. Communication skills are crucial, as the role involves both internal and external stakeholder engagement, status reporting, and proposal strategy execution.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of extensive managerial experience, technical proficiency, and financial acumen. A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with relevant years of experience is required, along with the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance. This position offers a competitive salary range between $172,759 and $186,682 annually and may require some travel. As a hybrid working role, flexibility in work location is also supported. GDMS values leadership qualities such as developing oneself and others, fostering teamwork, strategic thinking, and risk management. The Program Manager will also be expected to identify opportunities for innovation, including applying AI for continuous improvement.

This position presents an excellent opportunity for a seasoned program manager to join a respected company at the forefront of defense innovation, working on critical projects that support national security missions. If you are a strategic leader with a commitment to excellence and a passion for delivering complex systems, GDMS invites you to bring your expertise to their high-performance team. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, GDMS encourages applications from individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
