Job Description
Camp Korey is a unique and compassionate nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children with life-altering medical conditions the opportunity to experience the joys and transformative power of childhood and camp free of charge. Located in Mount Vernon, Washington, Camp Korey serves thousands of campers and their families each year, offering a medically safe and adaptable environment where children diagnosed with over 90 different medical conditions can temporarily leave behind the challenges of being patients and rediscover the simple pleasures of being kids. Their programs foster community, resilience, joy, and personal growth through engaging activities tailored to individual needs, overseen by a team committed to inclusivity and excellence.
As a camp that prioritizes accessibility and advocacy, Camp Korey values diverse experiences and perspectives on its team, recognizing that these elements are essential to providing the best possible support and environment for its campers. The organization invests in year-round and seasonal staff, who play a critical role in bringing the camp’s mission to life. The dedicated team works collaboratively to ensure that every child and family who participates in Camp Korey’s programs receives a safe, joyful, and enriching experience.
The position of Program Coordinator at Camp Korey is a vital leadership role focused on facilitating the flow of camp activities and ensuring an exceptional camper experience while maintaining high standards for safety and engagement. Reporting directly to the Camp Director, this full-time role runs from April 1 through September 15, 2026, with a monthly salary of $3200 plus room and board accommodations. The Program Coordinator will be onsite at the Mount Vernon campus and will lead the Activity Team by supervising staff such as the Activity Lead and Media Specialist while partnering with other departments to adapt programs to camper needs, including those with complex medical conditions.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily schedule, coordinating activities, troubleshooting real-time issues, and supporting both campers and staff in a dynamic camp environment. This includes organizing pre-camp training focused on programming, safety, and engagement, ensuring all activity spaces meet safety and inclusivity standards, and helping with special events like carnivals and campfires. Success in this role requires a flexible, growth-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive during physically demanding days of programming. To qualify, candidates must be at least 21 years old and capable of passing background checks and health screenings, with CPR/AED certification obtained within the first week of employment.
Camp Korey is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace, welcoming applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a direct part in making a profound difference in the lives of campers and their families, bringing joy and empowerment to children facing medical challenges through dedicated program delivery and leadership.
