Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in recreation program coordination or related field preferred
  • ability to work a 4/10 work schedule
  • capability to perform physical duties such as lifting up to 45 pounds
  • strong communication skills
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • ability to handle public inquiries and resolve conflicts
  • valid criminal record clearance
  • passing physical examination including drug screening
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors
  • flexibility to attend special events and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in recreational program coordination or related field preferred
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers
  • knowledge of recreational activities and program development
  • proficiency in maintaining records and preparing reports
  • customer service orientation
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • experience working with diverse community groups
  • familiarity with municipal operations and policies preferred

Job Duties

  • Supports the mission of the city and its elected and appointed officials
  • provides courteous and timely service to the public
  • works cooperatively with other city employees
  • exhibits integrity and ethical behavior
  • implements, directs, and coordinates recreation programs and activities for all age groups
  • makes recommendations regarding new programs or existing program changes
  • assists in developing goals and objectives for assigned programs
  • assists in coordinating daily operation and maintenance of recreational facilities including equipment distribution and instruction of classes
  • assists in development, implementation, and planning of special events
  • inspects playgrounds, swimming pools, facilities, and other recreational areas
  • ensures buildings, grounds, and equipment are properly maintained
  • ensures compliance with program goals and procedures
  • collects and maintains accountability for revenues by registration and fees
  • maintains attendance records
  • assists in procurement of supplies and equipment
  • develops and updates handbooks, brochures, and promotional materials
  • handles citizen inquiries, requests, complaints, and special problems
  • provides assistance to local clubs, boards, committees, and organizations
  • prepares reports and maintains records
  • maintains working relationships with other departments and outside agencies
  • performs related duties as required
