SCAD's initiatives include festivals, industry events, and specialized programming aimed at enriching the educational experience and connecting students with the broader entertainment and creative industries. SCADFILM, a division within SCAD, is dedicated to producing premier events that serve students and professionals in film, television, animation, gaming, visual effects, screenwriting, performing arts, and video production. SCADFILM is known for its dynamic programming and its role as a hub for industry networking and creative collaboration.
The Program and Events Manager at SCADFILM plays a pivotal role in curating engaging and impactful programming for SCADFILM events and festivals. This full-time position involves researching and developing event topics, conducting pre-interviews with potential guests, and pitching innovative ideas that align with SCADFILM’s mission. The manager is responsible for the seamless scheduling and logistics of events, working closely with various departments such as publicity and legal to manage paperwork, releases, licensing, and media requests. Collaboration with faculty, staff, and the SCADshow Box Office team is essential to ensure smooth execution of events.
Key responsibilities include maintaining event documentation and spreadsheets, overseeing the SCADFILM website and social media channels, and managing the social media content calendar to maximize outreach and engagement. The role also entails providing administrative support to producers and directors, hosting events, and leading tours for industry guests and prospective students. The manager must monitor the entertainment industry in Georgia to network and represent SCAD at local events, manage transportation logistics across multiple venues, and coordinate outreach efforts to encourage attendance among students, staff, and community groups. Public speaking and preparing written materials like scripts and event writeups are also integral parts of the job.
Successful candidates must exhibit strong communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. The ability to craft clear, professional correspondence and event documentation is critical. Organizational proficiency, particularly with tools such as spreadsheets, is necessary to handle complex logistics and scheduling. Professional appearance and demeanor, combined with excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in engaging with high-profile guests, are essential. The ability to maintain confidentiality, manage demanding requests, and adapt flexibly to last-minute changes is required. Furthermore, the position demands a readiness to travel domestically and internationally with limited notice, reflecting the global nature of SCAD’s events and partnerships.
