Job Description
Michigan State University is a renowned public research university located in East Lansing, Michigan. With a commitment to excellence in education, research, and outreach, MSU offers a dynamic environment for innovation and community engagement. The College of Education at MSU supports initiatives that aim to enhance educational practices and provide meaningful outreach programs. Established as a leader in educational theory and methodology, MSU is dedicated to fostering growth and development in various learning environments. The College of Education works closely with K-12 outreach programs, educators, and community partners to support impactful educational experiences and professional development.
The Program and Engagement Coordinator role within the Office of K-12 Outreach is an integral position focused on the planning, coordination, and execution of workshops, conferences, and educational programs that serve a diverse audience. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who oversees the logistical operations necessary for delivering high-quality, impactful programming. Responsibilities encompass managing event timelines, securing facilities, arranging travel and accommodations, processing contracts, monitoring expenses, and orchestrating day-of-event logistics to ensure smooth program delivery.
This role also supports marketing and outreach initiatives by coordinating promotional efforts, managing content calendars, producing marketing materials such as flyers and social media graphics, and maintaining consistent branding across multiple platforms. The Program and Engagement Coordinator acts as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders including faculty, partners, speakers, and participants to facilitate clear communication and alignment of program objectives.
In addition to program logistics, the incumbent administers registration processes, maintains participant communications, collects feedback, ensures accurate documentation including continuing education credits and billing, and supports overall program evaluation efforts. This position may provide functional supervision to student employees and support staff, coordinating activities related to event logistics, marketing, and program implementation.
This is a full-time, off-dated position initially appointed for one year from the date of hire, with potential extension based on funding renewal. The role offers a remote-friendly work environment, allowing for some duties to be performed remotely as mutually agreed upon. The salary is commensurate with experience, aligning with the candidate’s background and skills. Work hours are standard from 8 AM to 5 PM. The Office of K-12 Outreach values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming applicants of all backgrounds without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, or veteran status.
Candidates interested in this dynamic role should be prepared to support a variety of educational programs and outreach initiatives designed to positively impact K-12 education. The Program and Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in bridging educational theory with community practice, supporting the mission of MSU’s College of Education and its commitment to educational excellence and innovation.
