The role of Program Aide - Special Event Cashier (Evergreen) within the Transportation Services department is a temporary, casual staff position designed to support parking operations during special campus events, notably including all Texas A&M home football games. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a smooth parking experience for event attendees by managing lot entrances, guiding customers to parking areas, and handling cash transactions efficiently.
The position pays an hourly rate of $18.00 and requires individuals who are friendly, courteous, and possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others while being able to comprehend and follow instructions. The role demands physical stamina as it requires standing for long periods and working in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities include cashiering at assigned parking lots during special events such as football games, graduations, basketball games, and Ring Day by accepting tickets or cash payments from customers and granting lot access accordingly. Customer service is a key component, as the Program Aide is expected to respond to parking-related inquiries during event days. Training will be provided to ensure competent performance, and the candidate must be available to work all home football games, as well as occasional Friday shifts. Work hours vary between 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM depending on the event schedule.
Employees in this position are also expected to represent the department positively by adhering to the Aggie Core Values, ensuring timely completion of required training, accurately reporting work hours, maintaining safety practices, and supporting overall department policies. Due to the essential nature of the role, Program Aides may be required to drive a state vehicle around campus and remain available during university emergencies or closures.
