The role of Program Aide - Special Event Cashier (Evergreen) within Transportation Services is a temporary, casual staff position based in College Station. This position is essential during special campus events, including all scheduled Texas A&M home football games, Ring Day, basketball games, and graduations. The primary responsibility centers around maintaining parking lot entrances and providing parking guidance to event attendees. In this role, the aide will act as the frontline representative, ensuring a smooth and well-organized parking experience for customers.

This position commands a competitive hourly wage of $18.00 and requires the ability to work flexible shifts that may range from early morning to late evening, depending on event schedules. The Program Aide must be able to stand for prolonged periods and endure various weather conditions. Effective communication skills, a friendly and courteous demeanor, and the ability to multitask while cooperating with others are keys to success for this role.

Training will be provided to equip the aide with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform cashiering duties and offer excellent customer service during large-scale events. The position also includes responsibilities such as handling tickets and cash transactions accurately and assisting customers with parking inquiries. Furthermore, employees will have to represent Transportation Services and the university positively and adhere to all safety guidelines and departmental policies.

Being an essential employee, the Program Aide must be available to work all A&M home football games and possibly additional Friday shifts. The role also involves driving a state vehicle to various campus locations and supporting the university during emergencies, campus closures, and class cancellations. Overall, this position offers a valuable opportunity to engage with the Texas A&M community, contributing to the seamless execution of high-profile events and upholding the esteemed standards of the university.

Job Duties

  • Cashiers lots on special events by taking appropriate ticket or cash for their assigned lot and letting customers enter appropriate lot
  • Answers questions from customers in relation to where to park on special events parking days
  • Maintain parking lot entrances and provide parking guidance during campus events
  • Stand for long periods of time during shifts
  • Work cooperatively with others and multitask effectively
  • Drive state vehicle to travel to various parts of campus
  • Represent the department by supporting Aggie Core Values
