Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a leading retailer in natural and organic foods dedicated to nourishing people and the planet. Founded with the mission to revolutionize the grocery industry, Whole Foods Market extends its reach beyond providing fresh and healthy food; it actively contributes to community well-being through initiatives such as funding school garden grants, increasing access to nutritious foods in underserved areas, supporting poverty alleviation in developing countries, and championing sustainable practices. As a company, Whole Foods Market fosters personal growth among its team members, encouraging them to make meaningful change both within their community and globally. With a commitment to high standards of excellence and sustainability, the company prides itself on being more than just a grocery store—it is a catalyst for positive social and environmental impact.
The Produce Team Member role at Whole Foods Market entails a critical support function in maintaining the freshness and appeal of the produce department. This position involves receiving and preparing product deliveries, organizing and maintaining produce displays, and ensuring optimal product presentation according to Whole Foods Market’s standards. Team Members are responsible for breaking down deliveries, stocking shelves efficiently, and upholding rigorous standards of cleanliness and food safety. Customer service is an integral component; employees are expected to deliver courteous, friendly, and effective assistance to shoppers and fellow Team Members. This role requires adherence to company operating procedures, promoting the company’s core values and safety regulations.
Compensation for this position ranges from $16.00 to $25.40 hourly, commensurate with experience, reflecting the company’s commitment to fair pay. Whole Foods Market offers its employees an extensive benefits package known as Whole Benefits, which includes store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness programs, and health and wellness support. Eligibility for these benefits depends on work location, length of service, and employment type.
As a Produce Team Member, you will be expected to manage inventory meticulously by monitoring spoilage, performing regular temperature checks, and ensuring proper product rotation. Participation in inventory audits and maintaining accurate signage and pricing are other vital duties. Physical demands of the role include lifting up to 50 pounds and performing various movements such as bending, twisting, and squatting, often in varying temperature conditions including exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about natural foods and sustainable agriculture to contribute meaningfully while developing valuable retail skills. No prior retail experience is necessary, making it accessible for new entrants eager to grow within a values-driven company dedicated to health, community, and environmental stewardship. Whole Foods Market promotes equal employment opportunity and values diversity, hiring based solely on qualifications and business needs. New team members who successfully complete their initial 90-day period may also be eligible for a base rate increase, helping to reward commitment and performance.
Overall, working as a Produce Team Member at Whole Foods Market offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and customer service excellence converge. If you are enthusiastic about providing unparalleled quality and fresh products to customers while advancing Whole Foods Market’s mission, this role presents a rewarding career path with continuous growth potential.
