Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a pioneering leader in the natural and organic foods industry, dedicated to nourishing people and the planet. As a premium grocery store, it is more than just a place to shop; it represents a commitment to personal growth, community engagement, and creating meaningful change. Whole Foods Market’s mission extends beyond simply providing fresh, healthy, and organic food. They actively contribute to improving how people eat, support educational initiatives such as funding school garden programs, and strive to increase access to nutritious food, especially in underserved communities known as food deserts. By alleviating poverty in developing countries and prioritizing sustainability, Whole Foods Market positions itself as a world-changer, setting standards of excellence and revolutionizing the grocery shopping experience. Working at Whole Foods means joining a company that is committed to high ethical standards, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility, making it an inspiring workplace for individuals seeking to make a difference within their communities and beyond.
The role being offered is that of a member of the Produce team, a critical position that supports the daily operations of the produce department by receiving, preparing, and maintaining fresh produce displays. The position emphasizes upholding Whole Foods Market’s high standards by ensuring fresh, appealing product presentation and offering excellent customer service. Team Members in this role are responsible for a variety of tasks including breaking down deliveries, stocking shelves, front-facing products, checking product quality by rotating stock and removing expired items, and maintaining a clean work environment. They assist in organizing seasonal and volume produce displays and communicate spoilage issues promptly to management. Additionally, they complete required documentation such as temperature checks and sampling sheets to comply with health and safety regulations.
This role requires individuals to be punctual, appropriately groomed, and ready to work, exhibiting a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Members of the Produce team must possess strong communication skills and a passion for natural foods, which aligns with Whole Foods Market’s mission. This job offers the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team that values personal development and continuous learning, including training sessions and team meetings. Furthermore, incumbents are expected to proactively sell products, meet customer service expectations, and follow established procedures related to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety including weight and measures compliance.
Whole Foods Market offers a competitive wage range for this position from $19.00 to $25.40 hourly, commensurate with experience. Additionally, the company provides 'Whole Benefits' to eligible full- and part-time Team Members, which includes a store discount, paid time off, financial wellness programs, health and wellness support, and access to various Team Member perks. New entry-level Team Members who successfully complete 90 days of employment may be eligible for a base rate increase. Whole Foods Market is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair hiring and promotion practices without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics. This position offers a meaningful chance to contribute to a company that places purpose and sustainability at the core of its business while fostering team spirit and personal growth.
