Job Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or experience in basic customer service work
  • acceptable general background check including local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check
  • valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • not listed as having a founded child abuse or neglect complaint
  • must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • ability to sit most of the time but may involve walking or standing
  • ability to compare and judge data, people, or things
  • ability to communicate effectively in standard English
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent or experience in basic customer service work
  • knowledge of administrative and technical practices related to municipal golf course operations
  • familiarity with golf merchandising business operations
  • skills in giving golf instruction
  • knowledge of customer service principles and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • leadership skills to assign work, schedule, supervise, train, and evaluate staff
  • effective communication skills with the public and staff
  • ability to plan and organize work priorities
  • knowledge of safety and housekeeping standards
  • ability to handle automated office and golf equipment
  • basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and decimals
  • proficiency in standard English and golf terminology

Job Duties

  • Facilitate the collection of funds derived from sale of golf merchandise and various services at the club house
  • determine the type and quantity of golf merchandise for the pro shop
  • maintain a current inventory for the pro shop and the restaurant
  • assist the general public with interpretation of golfing rules and regulations
  • assist with golf tournaments as needed
  • plan and promote various functions within established policies, rules and regulations to generate operating revenues and create public interest
  • ensure functions are marketed appropriately by overseeing the publishing and distribution of informational and promotional literature
  • coordinate and communicate with local news media, commercial firms, civic organizations, and the general public to promote the development of the golf course and its programs
  • interact with the public to obtain and provide information and assistance
  • screen and respond to inquiries and complaints
  • provide information on policies and procedures
  • perform other administrative support activities
  • establish, coordinate, and maintain filing and record systems
  • provide information to the general public
  • review plans prepared by contractors to ensure compliance with city codes, state regulations, design, and construction standards
  • perform other duties as assigned
