Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform duties accurately at a fast pace
  • Good documentation and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good medical judgment
  • Competent phlebotomy skills verified by supervisor
  • Knowledge and skills performing technical and laboratory procedures
  • Experience performing phlebotomy, vital signs, ECGs, and lab procedures
  • Completion of state-approved Paramedic course
  • Texas Paramedic certification or license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1 year ALS paramedic experience

Job Qualifications

  • Course completion of a state-approved Paramedic training program
  • Texas Department of Health Paramedic certification or license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • At least 1 year experience as a Paramedic performing ALS-level skills
  • Experience in clinical research preferred
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience as Lead Medic in a 911 or private EMS unit preferred
  • Ability to competently perform blood draws under supervision

Job Duties

  • Function as medical coverage according to Medical Director's standing orders in case of emergency for subjects
  • Oversee study procedures to ensure compliance with protocol and WCT procedures
  • Act as primary contact for in-house subjects when Coordinator is unavailable
  • Document all adverse events as reported or observed per protocol requirements
  • Indirectly supervise technical and laboratory staff in absence of full-time supervisor
  • Perform phlebotomy on subjects at required intervals
  • Assist with technical, laboratory, and administrative tasks as needed following WCT Early Phase Services protocols
