Job Description
The Private Executive Chef position is a prestigious role based in a private residence located in McLean, Virginia, catering exclusively to the culinary needs of the Principal Family and their esteemed guests. This opportunity is ideal for a highly skilled and creative culinary professional who excels in delivering exceptional dining experiences and personalized service within an exclusive and private household environment. The hiring establishment values culinary excellence, discretion, and individualized nutrition, ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
This private residence is distinguished by its commitment to luxury hospitality and personalized care, providing an environment where the Executive Chef plays a pivotal role in curating and executing extraordinary meals that meet the dietary preferences, health goals, and lifestyle requirements of the family. The chef is entrusted not only with daily meal preparation but also with creating menus that reflect seasonal availability, gourmet ingredient sourcing, and the tailoring of dishes to accommodate a variety of nutritional plans, including wellness, therapeutic, and performance diets.
The Private Executive Chef oversees the entire kitchen operation, from inventory management and sourcing of premium ingredients from specialty vendors and farmers to maintaining impeccable sanitation, safety protocols, and organization of the culinary workspace. Furthermore, the role demands exceptional professionalism and confidentiality, respecting the privacy and unique culture of the household.
Beyond daily meal preparation, this position involves planning and executing private dining events, special family gatherings, and small executive functions with elegance and precision. The Executive Chef collaborates closely with household staff and external vendors to ensure flawless dining services that uphold the family’s standards of luxury and refinement.
Suitable candidates will have a strong background in culinary arts, supported by a bachelor’s degree and advanced culinary education from renowned institutions such as the Culinary Institute of America or Le Cordon Bleu. Professional certifications, including Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Master Chef (CMC), or equivalent, are highly valued, alongside credentials in nutrition or clinical nutrition. A decade or more of progressive culinary experience, especially in executive-level private chef roles or estate kitchens, is preferred, highlighting a proven track record of working within high-profile or executive households.
The position offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and skill set. Occasional travel will be required to support the family’s domestic and international executive dining needs, constituting less than 25 percent of the role's responsibility. This eligibility for travel adds an exciting dynamic to the role, requiring adaptability and the ability to deliver exceptional culinary experiences globally.
This role is ideal for culinary professionals who seek the challenge and prestige of working in a discretionary, high-standard home environment, where individuality and personalized nutrition are paramount. The Private Executive Chef will elevate the family’s dining experience through innovative cuisine, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing culinary operations in one of Virginia’s most distinguished private residences.
