Job Description
Biospan is a distinguished placement agency specializing in connecting highly skilled chefs with private households, focusing on delivering nutritious and whole-food based meals that align with their clients' specific health goals and dietary needs. The company caters to an elite clientele that includes busy families, founders, and performance-driven professionals who demand consistent, high-quality culinary services in their homes. Biospan's mission centers on the use of simple and organic ingredients, smart preparation systems, and precise execution to create meals that are not only delicious but also support optimal health and wellness. Through this personalized service, Biospan champions an approach to nutrition that integrates real food with science-based dietary protocols, offering a seamless experience where culinary art meets nutritional science.
The role they are offering involves working as a private chef in a client’s home located in the San Francisco Bay Area. This opportunity requires the chef to plan and prepare nutrition-led menus in collaboration with Biospan’s professional nutrition team, emphasizing organic, pasture-raised, wild, and low-toxicity ingredients. The household follows a modern ancestral framework, focusing on gut diversity, metabolic health, and mitochondrial support. This includes gluten-free menus, clean protein sourcing, resistant starch preparation, fermented foods, and non-toxic cooking methods. Practical skills such as batched meal preparation and meticulous kitchen hygiene are crucial.
The private chef will work two days per week, approximately 14 to 16 hours in total, managing all aspects of meal preparation for two individuals, including around four dinners and multiple lunches weekly. The role demands a high level of organization, discretion, and culinary finesse, as the chef will communicate directly with the client to receive feedback and adapt to their preferences and dietary restrictions. Chefs at Biospan are expected to keep detailed logs of dishes, portions, preferences, allergies, and nutritional notes to enhance the efficiency and quality of future meals.
This position offers competitive pay based on experience and includes reimbursement for groceries and reasonable kitchen consumables. Biospan values chefs who are passionate about ancestral and functional eating principles, ingredient quality, and are comfortable working within detailed nutritional guidelines while still creating enjoyable and satisfying meals. To excel in this role, candidates must have a minimum of three years of professional kitchen experience, preferably with private chef experience, possess active chef insurance, pass a clean background check, and hold a valid driving license. Punctuality, a methodical approach to kitchen hygiene, and strong organizational skills are essential attributes for this role.
Overall, Biospan provides a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who wish to integrate nutrition science with their cooking skills while working in a client’s home in a flexible, part-time setting. The company fosters a collaborative environment where chefs can grow professionally by working closely with nutritionists and progressive health protocols to create meals that truly support their clients' health and lifestyle goals. Biospan is committed to sustainable practices and encourages chefs who are meticulous, creative, and deeply invested in the quality and healthfulness of their ingredients to apply and contribute to this innovative culinary service.
