Job Requirements

  • Culinary school training is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years private chef experience
  • Must be local to Austin area or willing to relocate
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Willing to undergo background and reference checks
  • Valid passport and willing to travel up to two weeks per year
  • Ability to accommodate special dietary needs including gluten-free, shellfish-free, and nut-sensitive diets
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including some weekends and holidays
  • Ability to prepare meals in own home and finish cooking on-site
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable using digital tools for scheduling and macronutrient tracking

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary school training is strongly preferred

  • Ideally local to the Austin area but open to relocating a strong candidate
  • Kosher cooking knowledge is a plus
  • Garden-to-table interest or experience is a plus

  • Comfortable with macronutrient tracking and digital tools

Job Duties

  • Thoughtfully source ingredients and complete the majority of prep in your own home, then finish the meals in the family's residence
  • Prepare daily lunches, dinners, and snacks, combining advance meal prep with live, freshly cooked dinners
  • Be flexible to cook for events, holidays, and weekends as requested
  • Prepare vegetarian school lunches for the daughter a few days a week
  • Prepare plated or family-style service, set the table, and ensure the kitchen and dining areas are cleaned after meals
  • Incorporate healthy proteins, vegetables, and balanced carbs in all meals, adapting recipes to dietary needs
  • Use harvests from the garden and incorporate them into meals
  • Track macronutrients for all meals (total calories, fats, carbs, protein) and maintain a shared digital spreadsheet
  • Prepare weekly staples and seasonal items as requested
  • Source and prepare fresh, high-quality ingredients
  • Accommodate kosher or vegetarian guidelines during specific holidays/events
  • Manage a grocery budget via an expense account - ensuring proper tracking
  • Collaborate with household staff and maintain a discreet, professional presence
  • Coordinate menus and schedules via Google Calendar
  • Be open to traveling with the family up to two weeks out of the year
