Job Description
ShopRite is a well-established supermarket chain known for offering a wide variety of fresh, dried, and processed food products, spices, and household essentials to its customers. As part of a cooperative network of independently owned stores, ShopRite provides not only quality products but also dedication to exceptional customer service and community involvement. Founded with the mission of making grocery shopping an enjoyable and efficient experience, ShopRite stores pride themselves on maintaining high standards for cleanliness, food safety, and customer interaction. They operate across several states in the US, creating employment opportunities for local communities by encouraging team members' growth and development in a dynamic retail environment.
The position available is a part-time Stocker role at ShopRite that focuses on providing customers with accurate, friendly, and efficient service while ensuring the store maintains its organizational and sanitation standards. Stockers play a vital role in the overall operation of the store by making sure shelves are well-stocked, neat, and safe for both customers and employees. This role requires standing and walking throughout the entire shift, physical strength for lifting products weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds, as well as the ability to work in varying environments with different temperatures and exposure to cleaning agents and dust. The Stocker is expected to meet all schedules punctually and adhere to ShopRite’s time and attendance policies.
In this role, the Stocker will maintain a clean and organized shopping environment, sanitize work surfaces and equipment, assist customers with their needs promptly and courteously, and manage damaged or returned stock efficiently with priority given to perishable and refrigerated goods. They will need to be knowledgeable about the store’s wide range of products to offer assistance and recommendations to customers effectively. The position also involves the use of store equipment while following safety procedures and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations relevant to store operations. Part-time team members receive comprehensive paid training, which comprises web-based learning and hands-on activities, designed to equip them fully within the first 30 days of employment.
ShopRite emphasizes a clean, fresh, and friendly retail atmosphere by expecting all team members to adhere to company dress codes and hygiene standards, including hand washing, using disposable gloves when handling food, and wearing the designated uniform. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as the work hours can vary between days, evenings, and weekends with an average of 20 to 25 hours per week. This position is eligible for benefits like vision, dental, life insurance, legal plans, paid time off including sick leave and holidays, and retirement options such as pensions or 401(k) plans, which accrue gradually based on the collective bargaining agreement. Team members must be at least 18 years old to operate machinery such as balers and slicing machines. The role offers a valuable entry point for individuals interested in retail with growth opportunities through dedication and adherence to company policies.
