The Clerk role at Price Rite is a vital general clerk position that requires the individual to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and product presentation throughout the store. Under the supervision of various managerial roles such as the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and department supervisors, the clerk is responsible for pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise to keep the store visually appealing and well-maintained. This role also involves providing efficient and friendly checkout service, accurately scanning items, processing payments, and returning the correct change. Clerks are expected to comply with all company policies and safety regulations, including local, state, and federal health and civil codes. The job demands physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating equipment like slicing machines and balers, requiring the individual to be physically capable and at least 18 years old to safely use certain machinery. Clerks must also be able to work cooperatively in a team environment, handle fresh and processed food products safely, and maintain proper hygiene and dress code standards to uphold the store's professional image. Job Requirements
- ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language
- ability to perform basic math skills
- ability to make change with all denominations of American currency
- ability to stand and walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
- ability to adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- ability to operate equipment such as case cutters and U-Boats
- ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift 75 lbs
- ability to work with a wide variety of fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
- ability to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents
- ability to work in varying temperatures from cold to hot
- ability to climb a ladder
- ability to meet all work schedules and comply with time and attendance policies
- must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines

Job Duties
- maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
- maintain department sanitation and quality assurance standards including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, utensils and equipment
- check products received against invoices
- use slicing machines and related equipment where applicable
- prepare and replenish product for sale in any department
- operate equipment safely and observe all safeguards
- comply with all store rules, company policies, safety requirements and health regulations
- dress according to company policy
- comply with hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling unpackaged foods
- greet customers and provide prompt courteous service
- follow procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, price marking, scaling and restocking products
- control freshness, quality and temperature of products
- accurately scan products and process payments
- handle damaged or return-to-stock products
- adhere to company’s HAZCOM program and safe use of chemical products
- check refrigeration equipment and report failures
- remove trash and operate balers
- complete price changes as directed
- utilize and maintain equipment
- complete department training programs
- retrieve carts from parking lot
- perform other duties as required
