Job Requirements

Must be 18 years or older
ability to proficiently read, write, speak and understand English
ability to perform basic math skills
ability to operate cash register and handle money accurately
ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and lift between 25 to 75 pounds
ability to work in varying temperatures
ability to work with fresh, dried and processed products without allergic reactions
ability to adhere to company dress code
ability to adhere to attendance and punctuality policies
ability to operate department equipment such as slicers, scales, and ovens safely
ability to follow sanitation and quality assurance protocols
ability to climb ladders to retrieve items
commitment to safe work practices and cooperative teamwork
ability to complete required training programs on time

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
prior retail or grocery experience preferred
knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
ability to operate slicing and related equipment
proficiency in basic math skills
excellent customer service skills
strong communication skills in English
ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
ability to follow health and safety regulations

Job Duties

Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
maintain all department sanitation and quality assurance standards including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
check products received against invoices
use slicing machines and related equipment where applicable
prepare and replenish product for sale in any department
always operate equipment safely with all safeguards in place
comply with all store rules, company policies, safety and security standards
dress according to company policy including uniform and name badge
comply with hand washing standards and use disposable gloves when handling unpackaged foods
greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service
follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, price marking, scaling, and restocking products
adhere to all federal, state and local regulations
keep displays and display cases stocked and properly faced
differentiate between various product types including Produce, Meat, Deli and Fresh Seafood
control freshness, quality and temperature of products
understand and operate cash register following all cash handling procedures
accurately scan products and process payments
handle damaged or return-to-stock products according to policy
adhere to HAZCOM program standards for chemical product use
regularly check refrigeration equipment and report failures
remove trash and cardboard and operate baler
complete price changes as directed
maintain and report equipment problems
complete department training programs
comply with Price Rite service priorities - clean, fresh and friendly
retrieve carts from lot
perform other duties as required
