Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or enrollment in GED preparation program
- Obtain Food Handler Certificate upon hire if not certified
- Experience in food preparation and kitchen sanitation recommended
- Ability to follow CACFP and Head Start meal standards
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Willingness to work part-time hours as scheduled
- Commitment to the mission and values of Early Learning Essentials
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or willingness to enroll in a GED preparation program
- Food Handler Certificate upon hire if not currently certified
- Experience with meal preparation and kitchen sanitation preferred
- Knowledge of CACFP and Head Start nutrition guidelines advantageous
- Ability to collaborate with children, families, and staff
- Strong organizational skills
- Commitment to child safety and confidentiality
- Understanding of child abuse and neglect laws
Job Duties
- Uses cycle menus for breakfast, lunches and snacks
- Ensures menus comply with CACFP and Head Start guidelines and budget
- Completes meal production sheets and compiles shopping lists
- Shops for food and supplies within allocated times
- Prepares meals to meet CACFP and Head Start standards
- Prepares special meals for children with dietary modifications
- Makes food substitutions following CACFP guidelines
- Prepares and delivers meals to classrooms as scheduled
- Assists in classroom nutrition programs and learning experiences
- Maintains kitchen sanitation and health compliance
- Submits food orders and maintains records for compliance
- Recruits and trains parent volunteers and substitutes
- Participates in food-related nutrition education and supports positive meal experiences with children
- Provides temporary classroom assistance as needed
- Reports health and safety risks promptly
- Performs other duties as assigned
