Joining the Whole Foods Market Prepared Foods team means becoming part of a dynamic, customer-focused environment where each Team Member plays a vital role in delivering fresh, high-quality prepared food items. This role encompasses a mixture of food preparation, product stocking, customer service, and sanitation duties. As a member of the Prepared Foods team, you will specialize in cutting, preparing, and serving a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza. You will be involved in sampling products to customers, maintaining fresh displays and cases, and ensuring all products adhere to quality standards through rigorous date-checking and stock rotation.

Beyond food preparation, this role demands excellent communication skills as you will be interacting with customers to offer samples, provide product information, and utilize suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales. Stocking duties are critical to ensuring product availability and visual appeal, while sanitation requirements are essential for maintaining a clean and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Team Members in this position must be adaptable and willing to cover various tasks on the floor including assisting Team Leaders with inventory checks, organizing and displaying seasonal items, completing necessary paperwork such as spoilage and temperature logs, and promptly reporting any hazards or violations. Whole Foods Market promotes a collaborative team atmosphere where every member contributes to the store’s positive image through courteous, efficient service and engagement with both customers and fellow Team Members.

This position is hourly paid with a wage range of $18.50 to $25.40, commensurate with experience, and offers access to the company's comprehensive Whole Benefits program. Whole Benefits may include store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness support, and health and wellness programs, among others, depending on eligibility criteria related to work location, job type, and length of service. There is also potential for a base rate increase upon successful completion of the initial 90 days of employment.

Working in the Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market also requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various conditions including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour shift, operating tools and equipment such as knives and electric pallet jacks, and working flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays. This fast-paced role demands a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for natural foods and the company’s mission.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • samples products to customers
  • stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary
  • bails and consolidates recyclables
  • assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
