This position is part of the Prepared Foods team, where the team member plays a crucial role by supporting various food preparation, service, sanitation, and stocking functions. This is an entry-level role that requires dedication to Whole Foods Market's core values and goals. Team Members are responsible for ensuring a positive company image by offering courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service at all times. This role demands someone who can work collaboratively within the team, adhere to store Standard Operating Procedures, maintain health and safety regulations, and contribute actively on the store floor. Team Members engaging in this role will be trained to cut, prepare, and serve a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza. They will sample products for customers, manage inventory freshness by checking product dates, stock cases and displays, and consolidate recyclables. Team Members will assist the Team Leader in organizing promotional and seasonal items and are expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards rigorously. This role also requires strong communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for natural foods and the Whole Foods Market mission. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • ability to lift 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Cuts and prepares a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza
  • samples products to customers
  • stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen and refrigerators
  • checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates products when necessary
  • bails and consolidates recyclables
  • assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets
  • assists with periodic inventory checks
  • provides excellent customer service and addresses customer needs promptly
  • maximizes sales through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
  • follows and ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties including sign and pricing accuracy
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • works collaboratively with team members and supervisors
