As a member of the Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market, you will play an essential role in supporting the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of prepared food products. This position demands a high level of customer service, teamwork, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The role is hourly and offers a wage range of $16.00 to $25.40, commensurate with experience. The Prepared Foods Team Member is responsible for cutting, preparing, and serving a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza. You will also sample products to customers, stock cases and displays with prepared foods, check and rotate products to ensure freshness, and assist with organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items. Your duties will involve maintaining cleanliness, following sanitation guidelines, and performing opening, mid, and closing tasks as assigned. You will engage with customers proactively, providing courteous and friendly service while also supporting the team in meeting Whole Foods Market's standards for customer service and operational excellence.

This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment. You should be passionate about natural foods and support the mission of Whole Foods Market. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift, and the ability to use tools like knives and pallet jacks safely. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work motions including bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • Samples products to customers
  • Stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • Checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary
  • Bails and consolidates recyclables
  • Assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
  • Assists with periodic inventory checks
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
