This entry-level position is for a Prepared Foods team member at Whole Foods Market. The role entails supporting the preparation, service, sanitation, and stocking of various freshly prepared food items such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, salads, and pizzas. The team member will also participate in customer engagement by sampling products and providing outstanding service while ensuring all established health, safety, and operational standards are consistently met. Working as part of the Prepared Foods team involves multi-tasking in a fast-paced retail setting while maintaining attention to detail, product freshness, and cleanliness of the workspace. Additionally, team members are expected to demonstrate a positive and courteous attitude to foster a welcoming shopping environment that aligns with Whole Foods Market's values.

The position requires adherence to the company’s Standard Operating Procedures and collaboration with team leaders and fellow members to support daily volume and seasonal product displays, inventory management, and waste reduction initiatives. The wage range for this role is $19.00 to $25.40 per hour, commensurate with experience, and offers extensive 'Whole Benefits' including store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness programs, and health support. New employees who successfully complete their initial 90-day period may be eligible for a base rate increase. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing and walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • Samples products to customers
  • Stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • Checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary
  • Bails and consolidates recyclables
  • Assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
  • Assists with periodic inventory checks
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment and maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Reports safety hazards and violations immediately
