This role centers on various functions related to preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking within the store’s Prepared Foods venues. The position requires team members to provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and fellow team members, thereby ensuring a positive company image at all times. Adherence to the store’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), health and safety regulations, and core company values is essential for success in this role. Team members in this position are responsible for assisting with food production, ensuring all prepared foods are properly labeled, rotated, and meet Whole Foods Market’s guidelines for quality and preparation. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness and organization of storage areas such as walk-ins and freezers, documenting waste and spoilage, and following correct recipes and measurement techniques. The team leader plays an important role by spending significant time on the sales floor engaging with customers and helping wherever needed, which fosters a collaborative and customer-focused team environment.
Candidates should have strong communication skills, a passion for natural foods, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. They must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and working in various temperature conditions. Flexibility regarding work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is also necessary.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday

- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals

Job Duties
- Assists with production for all Prepared Foods venues
- ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
- documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
- helps customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
- ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
- provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
- answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
- maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
- immediately reports safety hazards and violations
