The position offered is an entry-level role within the Prepared Foods section of Whole Foods Market. The job focuses on performing all functions related to food preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products. Employee involvement also includes documenting waste and spoilage accurately, maintaining cleanliness and organization of walk-ins and freezers, and preparing and serving customers in a timely, knowledgeable, and respectful manner.
Team Leaders and Team Members alike must actively engage on the sales floor, support special programs and initiatives at local and national levels, and help maintain compliance with food safety standards. This position requires physical capability to meet job demands, including lifting weights up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for 6 to 8 hours per shift, and working in variable temperature conditions from freezing to high temperatures. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- Ability to work in temperatures below freezing, between 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- May require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Assists with production for all Prepared Foods venues
- Ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- Ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
- Documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- Ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
- Helps customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and conventional store products
- Ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
- Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- Works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
- Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
- Answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
- Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- Maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
- Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
