This position is an entry-level role within the Prepared Foods department, essential for ensuring that customers receive high-quality products and excellent service. As a team member, you will perform all functions related to food preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of prepared foods products. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to company standards and health regulations, and a positive, customer-focused attitude that ensures a friendly and efficient experience. You will be responsible for assisting with production in various Prepared Foods venues, properly labeling and rotating products, maintaining cleanliness in freezers and walk-ins, and providing clear communication about Whole Foods Market products versus conventional grocery items. The role is compensated with an hourly wage ranging from $17.00 to $25.40, depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures: less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Assists with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • ensures product meets WFM guidelines for quality and preparation
  • documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • helps customers understand the difference between WFM products and products at conventional stores
  • ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
