The role of Prepared Foods Team Member Supervisor at Whole Foods Market plays a pivotal role in maintaining the daily operations and high standards of the Prepared Foods department. As a supervisor, this individual assists with scheduling and overseeing the team, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow throughout the department, and helps maintain an appealing presentation of prepared foods, coffee, and juice displays. This position supports both the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leader by stepping in as a point of contact and leadership when needed. Duties include supervising team members, delegating tasks, training, and coaching staff to create a high-performance team that minimizes turnover. The supervisor is responsible for opening and closing the department according to established protocols, ensuring all food safety and regulatory guidelines are met, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked environment with proper product rotation to maximize freshness and appeal. Effective communication with team members and leadership is essential to address any concerns or issues promptly. An important part of this role is modeling Whole Foods Market's vision, goals, and core values while fostering an atmosphere of teamwork, mutual respect, and outstanding morale among team members. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures: less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery

  • 12+ months retail experience

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
  • works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • responds promptly to customer needs and questions
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
  • provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • consistently communicates and models WFM vision and goals
