The role available is a leadership position within the Prepared Foods department, focusing on assisting with the scheduling and daily supervision of team members. This position requires overseeing and maintaining visually appealing and fresh displays of prepared foods, coffee, and juices. The successful candidate will support the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leader to ensure smooth operations within the team while delivering exceptional customer service that upholds the company's positive brand image. As part of the Whole Foods Market team, the individual will be expected to adhere strictly to company Standard Operating Procedures, support core values and goals, and comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, particularly those related to food safety.
The position emphasizes team building, training, and mentorship, ensuring that all team members are adequately prepared and motivated to perform their roles efficiently. Responsibilities include delegating tasks, training new and existing staff, managing inventory rotation, department opening and closing procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Communication skills are vital, as the role involves addressing team concerns, fostering a positive team environment, and promptly responding to customer needs.
The role also necessitates a strong understanding of regulatory policies, financial monitoring, and the ability to use technology such as email, Microsoft Office, and other operational applications. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for most of the workday, and working in various temperature environments. A flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet business needs.
Compensation for this role ranges from $18.00 to $30.20 per hour, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing or walking 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- must be able to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in temperatures ranging from freezing to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit

- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery

- 12+ months retail experience
Job Duties
- Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
- works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
- assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials
- keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
- opens and closes department according to established procedures
- ensures all necessary breaks are given
- communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
- sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
- fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
- maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
- responds promptly to customer needs and questions
- selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover
