The position of Prepared Foods Team Member Assistant Supervisor is a pivotal role within the Prepared Foods department at Whole Foods Market. This role involves assisting with the scheduling and supervision of team members and overseeing the smooth operational flow of the department, which includes the management of prepared foods, coffee, and juice displays. Prepared Foods Team Member Assistant Supervisors support both the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leaders to maintain high standards of retail execution and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities in this role include delegating tasks, helping train new team members using established checklists, maintaining cleanliness and product rotation of displays, opening and closing the department in adherence to procedures, managing breaks, and acting as a liaison for team concerns to leadership. This position is central to fostering a positive team environment characterized by respect, morale, and exceptional teamwork. Team Members in this role are expected to uphold Whole Foods Market’s core values and goals, champion national and regional programs, and adhere strictly to food safety and operational regulations.

This role offers an hourly wage range of $15.50 to $29.20, commensurate with experience, and participation in Whole Benefits. Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • able to stand and walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • able to perform work motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures including less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to prepared foods team members
  • works with prepared foods trainer to train team members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • assists in training new team members utilizing learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to the team leader and associate team leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels team members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
