The role of Prepared Foods Team Leader at Whole Foods Market is a key supervisory position with an hourly wage range of $15.50 to $29.20, commensurate with experience. This position involves assisting with the scheduling and supervision of team members and ensuring the smooth operation of the Prepared Foods department, which includes areas like coffee and juice displays. The Team Leader supports the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leader to maintain compelling product displays, oversee daily workflow, and help build a high-performance team that minimizes turnover through effective training. Leadership responsibilities encompass delegating tasks, communicating concerns, and fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and morale. These leaders ensure the department meets the highest standards of retail execution while complying with all health and safety regulations, especially food safety standards. Additionally, the role requires strong organizational skills, customer service excellence, and the capability to prioritize and delegate duties effectively. Proficiency with basic computer applications such as email and Microsoft Office is also necessary. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour day
  • ability to use hand motions such as single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • ability to perform motions like bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures of up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

  • Extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies
  • strong organizational and time management skills

  • advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • proficient mathematical skills for financial performance, profitability, and inventory management

  • proficient with email, Microsoft Office, and operational applications
  • minimum of 12 months retail experience

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
  • works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members to build a high-performance team and minimize turnover
  • assists in training new Team Members using learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flow and directs Team Members to satisfy and delight customers
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
  • provides timely and thorough performance evaluations
  • consistently communicates and models Whole Foods Market vision and goals
