The role available is for a leadership position within the Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market. This key role is responsible for assisting with scheduling and supervising team members while managing the day-to-day flow of the Prepared Foods department, including coffee and juice displays. The position supports the team leader and associate team leaders in ensuring smooth operations and maintaining exceptional standards of retail execution. Candidate responsibilities include supervising and delegating tasks to team members, training and mentoring staff to sustain high performance and minimize turnover, and maintaining clean, well-stocked, and attractive food displays.

Successful candidates will foster an environment of teamwork, respect, and high morale while addressing customer needs promptly and effectively. Job Requirements

  • 12+ months retail experience
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures: less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
  • works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • responds promptly to customer needs and questions
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • consistently communicates and models WFM vision and goals
