The role in question is centered on ensuring the quality and preparation of food items for multiple service areas within the store including the cold case, fresh pack, salad bar, and hot bars. This position is integral to maintaining the excellent standards of food presentation, health compliance, and customer satisfaction that Whole Foods Market is known for. Team Members working in this capacity are expected to prepare food items according to prescribed recipes to guarantee consistency, monitor and restock the food items to ensure freshness, and maintain cleanliness and safety in their assigned workstations.

In addition to food preparation duties, this position involves providing exceptional customer service by addressing customer needs promptly and respectfully, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, and contributing to the overall pleasant shopping experience. Team Members must follow established store procedures and safety regulations rigorously, including proper food labeling, rotation, sanitation practices, and compliance with health department regulations. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and reporting safety hazards, participating in training sessions, and supporting store-wide initiatives and programs.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for natural foods, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and handle various food-service tools and equipment safely. Job Requirements

  • 6-12 months retail experience
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking 6-8 hours per work day
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • able to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • exposure to temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets
  • prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency
  • ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated
  • monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
