The role available is that of a Food Preparation Team Member, a pivotal position within Whole Foods Market’s retail operations. This role involves performing all functions associated with the preparation and maintenance of food items displayed in various sections such as the cold case, fresh pack, salad bar, and hot bars. The ideal candidate will closely follow production sheets and recipes to ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet the company's rigorous standards. Maintaining proper labeling, dating, and food rotation forms part of the daily tasks to uphold freshness and safety standards. The Food Preparation Team Member also plays a key role in replenishing food items on time and ensuring that the workspace, including walk-ins and freezers, adheres to the store’s cleanliness and safety protocols.

Customer service is a major component of this role. Team Members are expected to provide attentive, courteous, and efficient service that reflects positively on the Whole Foods Market brand. This includes addressing customer inquiries promptly, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, and displaying a willingness to function as part of a dynamic team. Further responsibilities encompass assisting with opening, mid, and closing store duties, verifying product signage and pricing accuracy, and reporting any safety hazards immediately. This position requires compliance with health and sanitation regulations, safe work practices, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures established by the store and team leadership.

Candidates should anticipate working in a fast-paced environment that demands strong work ethics, reliability, and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure. Familiarity with food production principles, basic cooking skills, and good math capabilities are essential. The role also involves physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and operating various tools and equipment including knives and electric pallet jacks. Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is expected.

Compensation for this hourly role ranges from $18.00 to $30.20 per hour, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets
  • prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency
  • ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated
  • monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
