Sam's Club is a leading membership-only warehouse club dedicated to providing quality products at unbeatable prices to its members. As a division of Walmart Inc., Sam's Club combines the strength and reliability of a major retail corporation with a focus on serving businesses and families with bulk goods and value-packed selections. With thousands of locations across the United States, Sam's Club has built a strong reputation for its commitment to excellent member service, a wide range of fresh and prepared foods, and a focus on innovation and community engagement. The company fosters a culture of respect, integrity, and continuous improvement, aiming to support associates in their career growth and personal well-being. Sam's Club offers competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and performance-based incentives to attract and retain top talent in the retail industry.
The Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead at Sam's Club plays a crucial leadership role in driving sales and ensuring exceptional member experiences in the company's prepared foods areas. This position involves supervising a team of hourly associates who prepare and serve meals such as rotisserie chicken, café items, and other fresh food options. The Department Lead acts as both a subject matter expert and front-line supervisor, facilitating associate rotations through various food preparation areas and managing member needs to meet the club’s business plan and quality standards. A key responsibility is to foster a positive and productive work environment by collaborating closely with other team leaders and departments.
In this role, you will maintain in-depth knowledge of prepared foods operations, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards for quality, safety, sanitation, and inventory management. You will oversee production schedules, manage seasonality for new products, and handle equipment and safety protocols. Leadership and communication skills are vital, as you will provide training, share knowledge, and coach associates to develop their skills and career paths. The position requires adopting and leveraging digital tools to enhance sales, improve the shopping experience, and increase associate engagement.
Operational excellence is a core focus for the Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead. You will be expected to maintain neat, clean, and safe work areas; ensure appropriate staffing and accurate record-keeping; and collaborate with third-party vendors like maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure smooth operations. In addition to daily management tasks, you will also play a role in talent acquisition and workforce development, promoting diversity and inclusion within your team.
Sam's Club is deeply committed to upholding ethical standards and fostering an inclusive culture. The Department Lead models company values such as respect for the individual, acting with integrity, customer service excellence, and striving for continuous improvement. The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $21.00 to $29.00, with additional premiums available depending on schedule and other factors, reflecting the value placed on this leadership role.
Furthermore, Sam's Club invests in associate growth through initiatives like Live Better U, a program offering fully funded educational opportunities ranging from high school completion to bachelor’s degrees and certifications. The company also provides a wide range of benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, stock purchase options, paid time off policies, parental leave, and other support programs designed to improve the quality of life for associates and their families. This combination of competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive culture makes the Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead position an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food service, leadership, and member satisfaction.
