The Line Cook position at Fish City Grill is pivotal in maintaining the high standards expected by the brand. Responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting seafood dishes in line with company standards — with pride and enthusiasm — this role requires someone passionate about food quality and customer satisfaction. The Line Cook works under the constraints of safety, sanitation, and operational policies, maintaining a clean and efficient work environment throughout their shift. Candidates will engage in detailed prep work, station setup, and food preparation following precise recipes and procedures to meet strict quality and timing requirements.

In addition to culinary expertise, the role encourages collaboration among team members by learning other line positions, assisting during busy periods, and supporting management in receiving and storing inventory. The Line Cook position requires keen attention to safety protocols such as proper food handling, avoiding cross-contamination, maintaining critical food temperatures, and equipment safety, including proper knife use and sanitation procedures. The ideal candidate possesses an educational background preferably with a high school diploma or GED, culinary training preferred, along with practical experience in a full-service restaurant kitchen. Physical requirements include prolonged standing and walking, lifting heavy objects, and the ability to work in variable kitchen conditions. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to spend 100% of working time standing, walking, and reaching
  • Able to push, pull and lift objects from lower to higher positions or move horizontally
  • Maintain body equilibrium while walking, standing or crouching on various surfaces
  • Capable of climbing ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • Able to frequently lift loads greater than 50 pounds
  • Must communicate clearly in the primary language of the restaurant
  • Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED preferred
  • Culinary degree or equivalent preferred
  • Six months to one year minimum experience as a prep or line cook in a full service restaurant
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques utilized in the prep/line position applying for
  • Good reading, writing, mathematical and communication skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Good judgment and decision making abilities
  • Ability to work well with limited supervision and interact with team members
