The Prep Cook role at Silver Reef is integral to the successful operation of the kitchen staff. This non-exempt position reports directly to the Silver Reef Sous Chef and Executive Chef, working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to support the preparation of meals and ingredients. The Prep Cook is responsible for organizing and labeling food items in storage closets, chopping and sorting ingredients, measuring quantities of seasonings, parboiling food, and initiating foundational steps in various dishes. Additionally, the role includes sanitizing workstations before and after service, maintaining clean and orderly kitchen facilities, and collaborating with kitchen and management staff to monitor ingredient inventory and efficiently manage supply orders.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- basic knife skills required
- must possess a valid Food Handler Card
- ability to stand walk swiftly and carry large service trays for extended periods
- ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance and 50 pounds with assistance
- ability to work in hot cold humid noisy or smoky environments
- effective communication skills in English

Job Duties
- Completing all tasks in order on the prep list from the Kitchen Manager
- labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
- washing chopping and sorting ingredients
- measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
- parboiling food reducing sauces and starting the first steps in various dishes
- cleaning dishes washing cooking utensils and cookware
- taking out trash and sanitizing the kitchen
- adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
- keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to efficiently create supply orders
